Admiral Appliance Repair Services in LA

History of Admiral

In 1934, the company was originally founded as Continental Radio and Television Corp. During World War 2 they were supplying the military with electrical equipment, while simultaneously manufacturing televisions. By 1950, their name was changed, and their success allowed them to start venturing into major appliances. In the 1970’s they began to sell off their various businesses to other companies, and the appliance division was sold to Magic Chef, which was then acquired by Maytag. In the early 1990’s, Maytag signed a contract with Montgomery Ward as the exclusive seller of the brand. Unfortunately, they later went bankrupt and stores were closed. Once Maytag was acquired by Whirlpool, the Admiral brand was revived and is sold exclusively now at Home Depot.

Manufacturers that have produced Admiral products include:

  • Magic Chef
  • Amana
  • Jenn-Air
  • Maytag
  • Zenith
  • Whirlpool

Admiral appliances we service include, but are not limited to:

  • Electric Washers
  • Gas Washers

  • Dishwashers

Complications

As many other companies under Maytag and Whirlpool, Admiral has needed to recall appliances from time to time. The one spanning across the most brands was a dishwasher manufactured by Maytag but also under the names Amana, Jenn-Air, Admiral, Magic Chef, Performa and Crosley. They recalled 1.7 million of these units, sold from 2006 to 2010, due to a heating element failure that caused fires. While no injuries were incurred or reported, these kinds of issues can be deadly. It’s important to discontinue use of an appliance you suspect is malfunctioning, not matter how small the issue seems. Call a repair service if you experience any of the following:

  • Leaking
  • Over-heating
  • Washer not draining
  • Washer or Dryer not spinning
  • Clothes not drying completely
  • Clothes coming out with smoke-like smell
  • Issue with Digital Display
  • Not all cycles operable
  • Door latch not working
