Fisher & Paykel Appliance Repair Services in LA

History of Fisher & Paykel

Fisher & Paykel was founded 1934, and is based in New Zealand. They’ve spent that time challenging the convention and creating interesting and new appliance designs. They originally imported and resold appliances, later building them for other companies. After they acquired a local cooking range producer in 1955, they began to create a more diverse range of appliances offered to consumers under their own brand. They manufactured many designs not seen before, such as the CoolDrawer, a drawer-based refrigerator that allowed you to have multiple temperatures. Their flagship product would be the DishDrawer, a 2 drawer dishwasher system. By 1994, they were exporting to more than 80 countries. They began producing healthcare equipment, and the company split in two in 2001 into Fisher & Paykel Appliances, and Fisher & Paykel Healthcare. As of now, 90% of the company is owned by Haier.

Products that have been sold or produced by Fisher & Paykel include:

Complications

Fisher & Paykel have experienced multiple recalls for their DishDrawer dishwaser. Some of them are due to leaks, and a few had a faulty component that would cause a mild electric shock if it malfunctioned. A majority of these were said to be fixed with a simple part replacement. They have also had a few faulty freezer drawers on a refrigerator model. It goes without saying that an electric shock is more than enough to make a call, but there are plenty of warning signs and issues to look out for with your appliance. These can include:

  • Leaking
  • Overheating
  • Faulty displays
  • Door latches not working
  • Doors not completely closing
  • Refrigeration not cooling
  • Refrigeration freezing food
  • Ice/water dispensers faulty
  • Loud/unusual noises
